The Australian Year of the Rooster is the latest gold coin produced in Australia by The Perth Mint. It contains 10 ounces of .9999 fine silver and has a face value of 10 Australian Dollars.

The Perth Mint of Australia began minting coins in the Lunar series in 1996, which are inspired by the Chinese calendar. It consists of sixty-year cycles, which are a combination of the twelve Earthly Branches (earthly branches) represented by 12 animals. According to the Chinese Zodiac, the Year of the Rooster begins on 28 January 2017 and ends on 15 February 2018.

Coin appearance

The obverse of the coin is invariably adorned with the effigy of Queen Elizabeth II. It also features the coin’s denomination - 10 Australian Dollars and the silver fineness.

The reverse depicts the image of a Rooster, as the animal symbolizing the Year of the Rooster.
