Description of the Gold Coin De Beers Diamond 2024
The diamond is desired for its timeless beauty and sparkle. And the classic, cushion-like shape - one of the oldest diamond shapes - has become the inspiration for this captivating gold coin with a metal purity of 999. It is the fourth in the series of diamond-shaped coins. Each piece has been masterfully carved to match the patented shape of the 0.23-carat De Beers Ideal Cushion Cut diamond embedded on one of its facets, where the flashes of colored light from the gem add a distinctive expression to the royal composition.
The coin was produced in a mintage of only 150 pieces, making it an elite product desired by both collectors and investors.
Appearance of the Gold Coin De Beers Diamond 2024
This coin, with its unique shape and complex design, is a reproduction of the patented diamond cut pattern by Crossworks Manufacturing, visible on De Beers ideal cut diamonds. On one of the main crown vertices is a 0.23-carat diamond with an ideal cushion shape. This coin has an additional unique element, as it contains a fragment of Canadian mining history: the diamond comes from one of Canada's most outstanding diamond mines. The year 2024 is engraved on another crown vertex, while the word CANADA, the denomination 500 DOLLARS, and the effigy of Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II by Susanna Blunt appear on the top surface.
The obverse also features a special mark that includes four pearls symbolizing the four portraits of the Queen that have adorned Canadian coins, as well as the dual date of the queen's reign.
Historical Background
De Beers diamonds are some of the most recognizable and valued gemstones worldwide. They are known for their unparalleled quality, exceptional brilliance, and rich history. De Beers, being one of the leading diamond producers in the global market, plays a key role in the jewelry industry. This history dates back to 1888 when De Beers Consolidated Mines was founded by Cecil Rhodes and Barney Barnato, who dominated the global diamond market by gaining control over most of the production. Through innovative marketing approaches, De Beers contributed to the growing popularity of diamonds, promoting them as symbols of luxury and love. These diamonds stand out for their exceptional quality and careful craftsmanship, making them highly sought after in the market.
The company controls the entire diamond production process, from mining in the mines, through processing, to the finished jewelry.
Producer
With Canada's growing independence from Great Britain, the need to mint its own coins also increased. Therefore, in 1908, the Royal Canadian Mint was established and has since become one of the most important mints in the world. To this day, all coins from the Royal Canadian Mint bear the portrait of the reigning British monarch.
The Mint's shares are held in trust for the Crown of Canada.
The Mint produces all Canadian circulation coins and is involved in designing and crafting collector coins from precious metals - gold, silver, palladium, and platinum bullion coins, medals, as well as medallions and tokens. It also offers gold and silver refining services. Today, the Royal Canadian Mint sets standards in minting technology and numismatic design, which testifies to its position and reputation.
