Appearance of the 2023 Great Britain 1 oz Silver The Royal Arms - 24h Shipping!
The reverse features the current version and modern interpretation of the royal arms (The Royal Arms), with a shield divided into four parts, each representing the nations under the United Kingdom of Great Britain (England, Wales, Scotland, Northern Ireland). The shield is supported on one side by a crowned English lion and on the other by a Scottish unicorn. In the background of the coin, engraved rays can be seen, adding majesty and elegance to the composition.
Depending on the year of production, the obverse of the coin presents a different image of the monarch. Older editions feature Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II, while newer ones issued after 2023 may contain a portrait of King Charles III. The changing image on the obverse makes each coin unique to its time, further emphasizing its collectible and historical value. The coin image is for illustrative purposes. The obverse may vary depending on the year. Coins are allocated randomly.
Historical Background
The history of the coat of arms of Great Britain dates back to the end of the 12th century, during the reign of King Richard I. Since then, the coat of arms has been modified, but the most important elements have been preserved to this day. The iconic design by Eric Sewell has been reinterpreted on this bullion coin by designer Timothy Noad. The royal shield, divided into four parts, features three English lions in the first and fourth quadrants, and in the second, a lion representing Scotland. In the third, there is the harp of Ireland. The shield is supported on one side by an English lion in a crown and on the other by a Scottish unicorn, surrounded by the inscription HONI SOIT QUI MAL Y PENSE (Shame on him who thinks evil of it). The coin also features the leek of Wales. At the bottom of the coat of arms, we find the inscription DIEU ET MON DROIT (from French: God and my right), which is the motto of the English crown.
