Australian Kookaburra is a series of coins issued by The Perth Mint since 1990. It is dedicated to one of the more popular birds inhabiting the Australian territories. It is also called the laughing bird by many, due to the sound it makes - resembling a hysterical human laugh.

The presented coin is made of 10 ounces of silver.

It is worth remembering that each year the coins in this series have a different reverse, which also makes them attractive from a collector's perspective.

Appearance of the 10 oz Australian Kookaburra Silver Coin

On the reverse, we see a kookaburra sitting on a branch just above the water's surface. The initials JG, belonging to the author of this design – Justin Graham, are visible on the branch. Above the bird, the series name "THE AUSTRALIAN KOOKABURRA" is placed. The reverse also features the year of issue of the coin, as well as the weight and fineness of the metal. The coin image is for illustrative purposes. The reverse may vary depending on the year. Coins are allocated randomly.

The obverse features a portrait of Queen Elizabeth II created by Ian Rank-Broadley, whose initials appear next to the image of the monarch. The inscriptions "ELIZABETH II" and "AUSTRALIA" are also included, as well as the nominal value of the coin.
