Description of the 2025 Canada 1 oz Silver Williamson Diamond Brooch - 24h Shipping!

The 2025 coin is the second issue in the Crown Jewels series, showcasing the most precious jewels of the British royal family. The inspiration for this coin is the Williamson diamond brooch, designed around a rare pink diamond that was gifted in 1947 to Princess Elizabeth by Canadian geologist John T. Williamson as a wedding present. This diamond, discovered in Tanzania, was cut to 23.6 carats and set in a platinum brooch surrounded by 203 white diamonds. This brooch was one of Queen Elizabeth II's favorite adornments, often worn during her seven-decade reign. The coin features a matte proof finish, highlighting the details and giving it an elegant appearance. The mintage is limited to 6,000 pieces, each packaged in a black case with The Royal Canadian Mint logo and accompanied by a numbered certificate of authenticity.

Appearance of the 2025 Canada 1 oz Silver Williamson Diamond Brooch - 24h Shipping!

An elegant numismatic piece, issued by the Royal Canadian Mint, commemorating the famous diamond brooch. The central motif of the reverse is a five-petaled flower, which is an interpretation of the Williamson Diamond Brooch. In the center of the flower is a pink glass stone, symbolizing the original diamond, surrounded by sparkling crystals. The entire piece is set in a rhodium-plated setting, adding extra brilliance to the composition. Additionally, on the sides of the flower, there are engraved floral accents inspired by the shape of the brooch. The obverse features a portrait of King Charles III, created by Canadian artist Steven Rosati, on a plain background. This coin represents a unique combination of Canadian heritage and royal elegance, making it an attractive addition to collections for numismatics enthusiasts and monarchy history lovers.

Historical Background

The Williamson diamond brooch, which inspired the 2025 coin in the Crown Jewels series, has a rich and unique history associated with the British royal family. The central element of this brooch is an extremely rare pink diamond, discovered in 1947 at the Mwadui mine in Tanganyika (now Tanzania) by Canadian geologist John Thorburn Williamson, the mine's owner.

In the same year, Williamson gifted the uncut 54.5-carat diamond to young Princess Elizabeth as a wedding present on the occasion of her marriage to Prince Philip. This gesture was an expression of recognition and loyalty to the monarchy and a tribute to the future queen. The diamond was later cut into a dazzling, round stone weighing 23.6 carats. Its extraordinary, naturally pink color makes it one of the rarest and most valuable jewels in the world.

In 1952, the diamond was set by Cartier into a spectacular flower-shaped brooch, with the central pink stone surrounded by petals made of over 200 smaller, colorless diamonds. This brooch quickly became one of Queen Elizabeth II's favorite jewels, which she wore on numerous important occasions and diplomatic events. It symbolized not only a personal gift from her engagement days but also the strong ties between the monarchy and Canada and the Commonwealth.

Manufacturer

With Canada's growing independence from Great Britain, the need for minting its own coins also increased. Therefore, in 1908, the Royal Canadian Mint was established and has since become one of the most important mints in the world. To date, all coins from the Royal Canadian Mint bear the portrait of the reigning British monarch.

The Mint's shares are held in trust for the Crown of Canada.

The Mint produces all Canadian circulation coins and is involved in designing and manufacturing collector coins from precious metals - gold, silver, palladium, and platinum bullion coins, medals, as well as medallions and tokens. It also offers gold and silver refining services.

Today, the Royal Canadian Mint sets standards in minting technology and numismatic design, reflecting its position and reputation.
