Description of the Gold Coin Canadian Maple Leaf 2024 Ultra Incuse Relief

This marks the 45th anniversary of the debut of coins from the Canadian Maple Leaf series. For this occasion, a coin has been created that presents a fascinating study of contrasts, combining the sophisticated shine of platinum with the timeless charm of pure 0.999 gold. Thanks to this combination, the piece exudes elegance, emphasized by the incuse relief on the reverse of the coin. On both sides, you can notice the 2024 novelty—the "amber maple" field pattern. This is an extremely valuable specimen on the market, with a mintage of only 300 pieces.

Appearance of the Gold Coin Canadian Maple Leaf 2024 Ultra Incuse Relief

The reverse of the coin features the Gold Maple Leaf bullion design by Walter Ott. The iconic maple leaf, placed at a depth of 1.5 millimeters, is coated with platinum. Behind it, the "amber maple" field pattern includes a subtle reference to the 45th anniversary of the coin's issuance (1979-2024) in the form of a micro-engraved number 45 on the leaves forming the central ring.

The field pattern repeats on the obverse, which depicts a platinum-coated effigy of Queen Elizabeth II by Susanna Blunt.

Historical Background

The former chief engraver Walter Ott (1920-2020) created the design for the first bullion coin issued in 1979, which became the signature design for all bullion coins in the Canadian Maple Leaf series and special editions.

Coins from this series are among the most iconic numismatic pieces in the world. The distinguishing features of this coin include the unique design depicting the maple leaf, which is a symbol of Canada, and the high purity of the precious metal (gold, silver, or platinum) from which it is made. The Canadian Maple Leaf is available in various denominations and sizes, making it attractive to both collectors and investors.

On the obverse, there is typically a portrait of Queen Elizabeth II, while the reverse features a detailed maple leaf design, which has varied slightly depending on the year of issue. Thanks to its reputation, quality of craftsmanship, and high metal purity, the coin is highly regarded on international markets and is a popular choice for those seeking a safe form of capital investment.

Manufacturer

With Canada's growing independence from Great Britain, the need to mint its own coins also increased. Therefore, in 1908, the Royal Canadian Mint was established and has since become one of the most important mints in the world. To this day, all coins from the Royal Canadian Mint bear the portrait of the reigning British monarch. The Mint's shares are held in trust for the Crown of Canada. The Mint produces all Canadian circulation coins and is involved in designing and crafting collector coins made of precious metals—gold, silver, palladium, and platinum bullion coins, medals, as well as medallions and tokens. It also offers gold and silver refining services. Today, the Royal Canadian Mint sets standards in stamping technology and numismatic design, reflecting its position and reputation.
