Historical Background
Antigua and Barbuda are two Caribbean islands that form a country located between the Caribbean Sea and the northern Atlantic Ocean. It is an exotic and luxurious place. It boasts a rich history and one of the best rums in the world. The history of rum production in Antigua dates back to the early 17th century when sugar first appeared on the island and quickly became the main crop grown on plantations. By-products of sugarcane, such as molasses, honey, or sugarcane juice, are the basic ingredients in rum production, which is created through fermentation and distillation. The distillate, a clear liquid, is then stored in oak barrels, and the final product is the sought-after Caribbean rum worldwide.
Scottsdale Mint
It is a relatively young mint, established in 2009 and located in Arizona (USA). Scottsdale Mint is one of the few mints in the world that is not government-owned but remains in private hands. It produces gold and silver coins and bars that are legal tender. Its owner is Josh Phair. The mint collaborates with many countries, creating unique and innovative products, often in limited series.
