Their extraordinary color is the result of the presence of trace elements (e.g., nitrogen, boron) or unique structural deformations in the crystal lattice. 4) Cut, in turn, determines how the diamond reflects and disperses light. A well-executed cut enhances the color intensity and increases the stone's appeal.
