Appearance of the Poland 10 Zlotych 2007 Silver Proof Coin – Konrad Korzeniowski / Joseph Conrad - 24h Shipping!

The numismatic piece was designed with attention to detail, highlighting both the artistic and historical dimensions of the souvenir. The reverse features the English ship Otago, on which Conrad made his voyages, symbolizing his close connection to the sea. The most striking element of the design is the hologram placed there, as a reflection of the ship in the water, which changes colors depending on the viewing angle. This gives the coin exceptional depth and a modern character. The obverse features the image of Joseph Conrad Korzeniowski, as well as his signature, which has become a recognizable symbol of the writer. On the left side, the denomination of the coin is placed, and on the right, the coat of arms of the Republic of Poland. The entire piece is finished in a mirror stamp technique, making the surface of the coin smooth and shiny, further emphasizing the finesse of the design.

Historical Background

The issuance of the coin, on the occasion of the 150th anniversary of Joseph Conrad Korzeniowski's birth, aimed to honor the outstanding writer who, although he spent most of his life outside Poland, left an indelible mark on world literature. His work, full of maritime adventures and deep reflections on human nature, gained international recognition, and his books, such as "Heart of Darkness" and "Lord Jim," are considered classics of literature. The issuance of the numismatic piece aimed to commemorate his life, literary work, and connection to Poland, his native country.

Józef Teodor Konrad Korzeniowski was born on December 3, 1857, in Berdychiv. He came from a Polish noble family. At the age of 16, he began his life as a sailor, first in the French and then in the British merchant navy, where he achieved the rank of captain. His maritime experiences became an inspiration for his literary work. After ending his career, he settled in England and began writing. His debut "Almayer’s Folly" was published in 1895, and his later works brought him fame. Although English was not his native language, Conrad became one of the most outstanding English-language writers. He died on August 3, 1924, in England, leaving behind a rich literary legacy.
