Appearance of the Set of 5 x 2023 Holiday Season Gift Coins - 24h Shipping!
Each set contains five Canadian coins not in general circulation dated 2023. These are the denominations: 5 cents, 10 cents, 25 cents, and 2 dollars, as well as a special one-dollar coin depicting a holiday moose. This coin is available exclusively in the set - it was minted specifically for the 2023 holiday gift series and cannot be purchased separately.
The reverse was designed by Canadian artist Steve Hepburn. The holiday moose wears a knitted scarf with a maple leaf motif, and holiday ornaments hang from its antlers.
The obverse features the image of Queen Elizabeth II by Susanna Blunt. It also has a special marking - four pearls symbolizing the four portraits of the Queen that adorned Canadian coins.
Historical background
The 1 dollar circulation coin in each 2023 gift set features a playful moose design, an animal characteristic of Canada. The moose is a popular symbol of the country's wildlife and space, and its antlers make it one of the most recognizable animal species.
Manufacturer
With Canada's growing independence from Great Britain, the need for minting its own coins also increased. Therefore, in 1908, the Royal Canadian Mint was established and has since become one of the most important mints in the world. However, to this day, all coins from the Royal Canadian Mint bear the portrait of the reigning British monarch.
The Mint's shares are held in trust for the Crown of Canada.
The Mint produces all Canadian circulation coins and is involved in designing and manufacturing collector coins from precious metals - gold, silver, palladium, and platinum bullion coins, medals, as well as medallions and tokens. It also offers gold and silver refining services.
Today, the Royal Canadian Mint sets standards in minting technology and numismatic design, reflecting its position and reputation.
